The Summit All-Stars: A High School Experience
Written by Journalism Activities student, Cooper J.
Cooper is a freshman at The Summit Prep taking the Journalism Activities Class as one of his electives for 2018-2019. He also plays bass in The Summit All-Stars, another elective offered at The Summit.
Every Monday and Wednesday, a group of high school students meet to play music together. They form a band called “The Summit All-Stars”. What’s different about the All-Stars from the other grades, is that the All-Stars learn many, many songs and get to play events outside of school. They often play at The Summit Gala and even ArtsFest on occasion.
The students in the All-Stars don’t just learn how to play music. They gain team skills, problem solving skills, and they have experiences they couldn’t get anywhere else. They learn to overcome stage fright and how to learn hours worth of music in very little time. But the absolute most important part about it, as cheesy as it may be, is to have fun. Learning to get up on stage, try your hardest, and have a great time doing it.
This year’s group of All-Stars did just that on November 13th at The Summit Fall Concert.
They played many 90s songs and had a great time doing it. They hope to continue entertaining people with their music.
Be sure not to miss them at the Spring Concert on Tuesday, May 7th at 6:30 p.m. at The Gillioz Theatre (also Grandparents Day)!
