Update from Mrs. B

7/8 Integrated Math

Students in Integrated Math have applied their understanding of scale, ratios, and rates to explore proportionality. First, they discovered what it means to be proportional by playing with recipes. They visualized the relationships between the number of batches and the ingredients in both tables and graphs. Once students developed a foundational understanding of proportional relationships, they were able to use their knowledge to determine whether relationships were proportional or not. Beginning next week, students will formalize proportional relationships and how they relate to linear equations.

Algebra 2

In the past week, Algebra 2 students have had to dig way back in the corners of their minds for their prior knowledge on quadratic equations and functions that they learned in Algebra 1. So long ago! Once they have reviewed and practiced what they’ve already learned, we will investigate in great depth how quadratics explain different phenomena in the world around us.

Computer Science Principles

In Computer Science Principles, students have started discovering the challenge and rigor of learning a programming language. While we are still in the introductory phase of understanding what programming is, we will begin adding more and more commands to our programming toolbox. Ultimately, students are working towards building their own apps by the end of the semester. Exciting things happening in this elective!
