Getting Started with Math

Often, when thinking about math, we think about right and wrong, getting the answer, or calculating numbers. This week in middle school math at The Summit, students are stretching their mathematical thinking. Sixth graders composed, decomposed, and rearranged polygons to find areas using different strategies. In Integrated Math, transformations were explored using both technology and traditional methods. Algebra I students used data and statistics to drive inquiry instead of judgment.

Algebra students do a gallery walk to discuss the data collected by classmates.
