National History Day

Sixth grade students, in their study of resources, land, and networking, discovered the game “Settlers of Catan” during their long block in history yesterday. This time proved valuable as students worked in teams to learn the game, select their ideal locations, utilize resources to grow their civilizations, and assign value to resources while bartering with peers. They also learned how rivalries might develop, as well as alliances.

Seventh and Eighth Grade

As some students finished up their graphic designs in class Monday, others explored the 2021-22 theme for National History Day: “Debate and Diplomacy in History: Successes, Failures, Consequences.”

Several students expressed interest in pursuing NHD this school year, and I’m excited to begin working with them to craft their research!

Both of these groups are preparing for their second quiz, slated for next Wednesday, October 6th.
