6th Grade students have been looking at world history through the lens of leadership. Each student has chosen a different leader to learn about, and they’re in the final stages of putting together presentations to teach their classmates about essential leadership traits and moments of struggle. This project has worked to stretch their research and creativity muscles, while also teaching them that all people have the capacity to exercise leadership. These projects are due on Monday, and students will have opportunity over the next week to present and share.
7/8th Grade students have been working on their juxtaposition research in which they are comparing/contrasting the Haitian Revolution with other revolutionary moments around the world. This project is asking them to identify key moments of revolution, including leadership and ideology, and is having them make connections to the Enlightenment and human rights.
8th Grade has also been hard at work on fundraising and planning their 8th grade trip, marking the culmination of their middle school experience. Additionally, they’re pulling together the details of their job shadow experience. They will each be crafting questions to ask throughout their day off campus, and they will be tasked with writing a reflection upon return to The Summit.
Students in High School Political Science are in the midst of a project that has them researching political parties to know what they stand for/against, who their key demographics are, and creating a message. They’re even choosing the song that best represents their party! Students are working in teams on parties of their choice, and they’re making great progress in identifying key issues between political groups.
