Leadership Opportunities for HS Students

There is a lot of information below for various opportunities high school students may be interested in pursuing.   Please reach out with any questions you may have.

Online Dual Credit – Spring, 2024

  • OTC:  Registration opens tomorrow (10/19) for students who wish to take an online dual credit course through OTC. This document has a lot of information for students and parents. On page 5, you will find the list of available courses for Spring 2024.  
  • Drury:  Waiting to hear back when Spring registration begins. Here is helpful information about their dual credit program for your review.   

Please let Mrs. Breckner know if you are thinking about an online course, have any questions, or need help registering for a Spring college class.

Summit After School Clubs & Activities – Session 2

Registration  is due this Friday, Oct. 20 and clubs will begin the next week. If you need financial assistance, please do not fill out the form. Instead, please contact the Finance Office by calling 417-869-8077 or emailing finance@thesummitprep.org.

Upper School After School Clubs this session include:

  • Upper School E-Sports Mondays-Thursdays with Coach Long ($80 fee)
  • Dungeons and Dragons Club on Thursdays with Ms. Eckstein ($80 fee)
  • Chess Club on Mondays with Mrs. Stallcup ($80 fee)

 

ACT Workshop Intensives

Use this link to register for one of the following this fall. Register early, as space is limited to 10 Summit and non-Summit students for each workshop.

COMP 2024 – Creating Original Music Project

Check out this link for more information on Mizzou’s New Music Initiative. This statewide competition recognizes Missouri students (K-12) who compose original works in a variety of musical styles. Entry deadline is January 14, 2024.  Winning composers and their schools will be awarded cash prizes and performances at the University of Missouri. This year’s COMP festival will take place Saturday, April 20, 2024

Missouri Fine Arts Academy at Missouri State University

The Missouri Fine Arts Academy (MFAA) is a two-week summer residential program for highly motivated sophomore, junior and senior high school student artists in the disciplines of visual arts/mixed media, theatre, dance, creative writing, and music (instrumental and vocal). Applications accepted Oct. 16, 2023 – Jan. 28, 2024.  The program is scheduled for June 2-15, 2024. Mrs. Gauldin (formerly Ms. Renfroe) is a great resource if you would like more information.

Missouri Boys & Girls State

Those of you that want to know more about Missouri Boys State and ALA Girls State please review these sites. Students that attend spend 7-9 days at Lindenwood University in June 2024. Please reach out if you have any questions or would like more information regarding this leadership opportunity.
