Algebra 2

Students have been working with all things polynomials in Algebra 2. They have done work in operations with polynomials, finding zeros of polynomials, determining end behavior, and multiplicity. They have studied how to determine factors of polynomials in several different ways and how to write equations for graphs of polynomials. They are currently working on reviewing all this work in preparation for an assessment over all things polynomials.

Precalculus

Students in Precalculus are currently working with polynomial and rational functions. Though we may not realize it, many of these concepts underlie some critical calculations in science and nature. For example, pressure and the behavior of gasses underwater for divers, the curved surfaces of communications antennas, and population changes among animal species can all be modeled using polynomials and their various representations (tables, equations, graphs).

Applied Math

Applied Math students have been working with simple interest. They learned how to calculate the principal, annual interest rate, time period, or interest when they know all the other amounts. Then they learned about different types of loans that may involve simple interest including a home equity line of credit, a personal line of credit, an operating loan, and a student loan. With these in mind, students worked on creating a repayment schedule involving payments, advances, and changes in interest.
