High School Mathematics

Algebra 2

Algebra 2 students have completed their study of polynomials. They demonstrated their learning in a test this past week. Then they began to make observations about rational functions, which will be the next unit of study.

Precalculus

This week Precal students wrapped up the Polynomial and Rational Functions chapter. There will be an assessment on Tuesday, with a heavy emphasis on graphing and writing equations for polynomial and rational functions. After the assessment, we will begin exponential functions, which can be used for, among other things, modeling growth patterns such as those found in bacteria.

Applied Math

Applied Math students have moved into applying the mathematics of geometry into applications involving construction, painting, carpentry, steel work, HVAC, plumbing, and design. They are discovering how to apply formulas, convert measurements, and pay attention to details in designs, specifically regarding which type of measurement unit is being used.

Conferences

Conferences will be held next week, so if you would like to chat about math progress, be sure to sign up for a time with Ms. Eckstein or Mrs. Cook using the link send by Dr. Bonebreak!
