High School Mathematics

Algebra 2

Algebra 2 students have been learning about rational functions. Specifically focusing on the unique aspects of graphing them, students know how to determine vertical, horizontal, and oblique asymptotes. They have studied why asymptotes exist and what they tell about the equations. Students are able to complete their graphs by wisely choosing points to plug into equations and using their outputs to determine where the graph exists.

Precalculus

After completing our unit on polynomial and rational functions, students began their deep dive into exponential and logarithmic functions. These functions help us express growth and decay that changes rapidly. With applications in science, statistics, and finance, there is no shortage of ways to use this valuable learning.

Applied Math

Applied Math students have been working with linear equations. Using real world data, students have drawn graphs by hand, created trend lines, and calculated slope, deciding what slope specifically means in each of the situations. Students have also been working to determine equations of lines when given real world data, in order to extrapolate data outside the parameters of the given data.
