Social Studies Update

High school students in American History II completed their presentations on World War II this week. They worked hard to keep their presentations within the provided time frame, and they utilized excellent resources in their research. It was fantastic to see the way they tied primary sources to their various topics, and they worked hard to engage their peers while they presented. It’s always impressive to see Summit students’ confidence and excellence in presentations! Next week, we’ll dig in to some further details to flesh out the war and its outcomes before we begin studying the Cold War.

Students in Conversations, Conflicts, and Current Events have begun reading the book Love Your Enemies by David Brooks. We had a great discussion of the introduction last week, and students had excellent thoughts on the ideas laid out, including the “culture of contempt.” In the coming weeks, we’ll continue discussions over chapters and weave in current events as they arise.
