Back in the Deep End! – Middle School Math

Without a day to waste, middle school math students are jumping right back into important learning.

6th Grade

Before Winter Break, we thoroughly explored multiplying and dividing fractions. Students identified situations calling for multiplication or division, estimated the types of solutions to expect, and worked on a standard method for multiplying and dividing.  Wednesday and Thursday we will review our learning so far, and students will complete a knowledge check on Friday.  Our next sections will include more applications of operations with fractions, as well as operations with decimals.

Integrated Math

Just before Film Fest, we completed Unit 3 on writing and solving two step equations. Students will review and practice Wednesday and Thursday in preparation for a knowledge check on Friday. Then we will move on to expressions, inequalities, and more equations.

Algebra I

We are nearing the end of our foundational unit in Algebra I. We are working on inequalities in two variables. Then we will move onto systems of inequalities.  Then we will use our equation and inequality skills to evaluate the financial value of household alternative heating systems.
