Social Studies Update

Sixth and seventh grade students have been studying the Gilded Age and Progressive Era this week. We’ve discussed the Captains of Industry and the ways in which they made their wealth – including horizontal and vertical integration. We’re also examining immigration from Europe and the push and pull factors involved. Seventh grade will begin a project on European immigration tomorrow.

Eighth grade students are in the midst of a research project on a wide variety of projects spanning from 1877 to 1970. They turned in an annotated bibliography today, and they have the choice between creating a presentation or writing a paper to share their thesis and their findings next week.
