Middle school students and Summit faculty enjoy 15 minutes at the start of each day to focus on topics in social/emotional learning, executive functioning, building community and culture, and more. Each faculty member supports a group of six to seven students. On Monday, students focused on the week ahead by checking their email and looking at their Google classrooms. Mondays also present a moment for a self-check supporting preparation for upcoming week. Tuesday, each group was tasked with developing a middle school t-shirt design for the 2023-2024 school year. Groups are still working and hopefully finalized designs will be completed and selected next week! Wednesday, was an outside day. Luckily, it was not too hot! Everyone enjoyed a bit of fresh air and running around to start their day. Thursday, we held our first Middle School Meeting which will happen a few times a month. During these meetings, students and faculty will have whole group discussions as well as discuss current and future events and activities. The ultimate goal will be for a small subset of students to take over these days and plan the meeting for their classmates. Dr. Bonebrake is looking for a few student leaders to support this! Friday is game day. Advisories will have the opportunity to build camaraderie in the age-old endeavor of playing games like Uno, Spades, and so much more. Advisory is a great way to start the day!
