The Latest in Language Arts

6th grade is rounding the end of their first novel study “The Giver.” They have had some very thoughtful discussions and have done a great on connecting the content of the text to their lives and to the world at large. They have focused on the Vocabulary present in the text and are using it to improve their own. Upon completion of the novel, students will work through analyzing the text as a whole and evaluating all it’s different literary elements.

7th and 8th grade concluded their presentations on the Olympian Gods / Goddesses and are ready to move on to reading and analyzing actual myths. They will start with the beginnings of man with “Prometheus and Pandora” and will continue on the stories of Perseus and Medusa, Theseus and the Minotaur, and many others. We will eventually  move into The Trojan War and will read excerpts from “The Odyssey.”
