Social Studies Update

Students in middle school classes have been practicing the fine art of debate while learning about historical topics this week. Starting out in large teams, students researched topics of importance (Han Dynasty, Roman Empire, leadership, Alexander the Great, etc.) to prepare for their debates. Their collaboration skills shined in preparation, and each group did an excellent job supporting their teammates who chose to debate against the other team. As we go through this process, students are identifying how to make a strong argument, how to listen and respond thoughtfully, and how to learn from someone who has a different perspective.
