Eighth Grade and Social Studies Updates

Eighth grade students had a successful and fun trip to St. Louis last week. Their hard work in fundraising and planning led to a fun couple of days in the big city – including visits to the City Museum and the St. Louis Zoo. Many thanks to The Summit community for their support of these students’ efforts. Next up, this crew is thinking about a job shadow experience in late April. Each year, eighth grade students consider careers of interest and spend the day off campus to learn from area experts. It’s an exciting and important opportunity for them to practice skills essential to daily adult life.

In history class, eighth graders are learning about the Islamic Empires in the middle east and their rapid growth throughout Asia, Africa, and into the Iberian Peninsula. Seventh and sixth grade students are examining the middle ages and the variety of life experiences depending upon where one lived at the time.
