Sixth grade students got off campus this morning and enjoyed the Library Center and Smallin Cave. Upon arrival at the library, we noticed a long line of people waiting to vote – and it kept up throughout the time we were there. This led to some great conversations around our civic duty as Americans. We were also able to see the Law Day display and recognize two of our winning students for the 2024 contest!
Students engaged in a scavenger hunt to learn more about available library resources before enjoying some free exploration – including the Teen Section, which they’re now old enough to utilize. Several students checked out books and have lots of reading ahead of them.
From the library, Mr. Mike drove us in the Summit shuttle bus to Smallin Cave. Here, we met our tour guide and learned about Ozarks history and geology. This crew had great questions and enjoyed seeing fossils in the cave ceiling. The gift shop was also a hit before we loaded up to return to The Summit.
