Seventh and eighth grade students have been learning some Japanese and Middle Eastern history this week by examining a number of significant eras and empires. Starting with the Tokugawa, students are practicing their Japanese vocabulary skills and learning words like “daimyo,” “samurai,” and “shogun.” These lessons are allowing students to draw important connections between historical regions and leadership struggles to maintain and grow their power.
