In our Middle School Spanish class, we kicked off the semester with a fun and lively “Back to the Basics” bootcamp! As we prepare to dive deeper into our first unit, we focused on refreshing essential Spanish vocabulary and grammar. After all, Spanish is a language where if you don’t use it, you lose it — so keeping words and phrases fresh in our minds is key to success.

Students enjoyed a variety of engaging activities designed to reinforce their skills. We sang catchy songs and chants to make vocabulary memorable. At stations, they practiced Spanish numbers with a twist playing Jenga, sharpened their conversational skills by asking and answering questions in Spanish to get to know their classmates better, and explored our classroom library during a free reading station. There, they also learned how to use Spanish dictionaries to look up unfamiliar words, building independence in their language learning.
This “Back to the Basics” bootcamp was a great way to review, refresh, and get excited for the journey ahead in our Spanish studies!
