Students in sixth grade have begun their study of river civilizations. We’re starting with an examination of Mesopotamia and early systems of written communication and laws. As part of this, students are creating their own list of laws and enforcements, considering what would be important to maintain the safety and peace of citizens living in community. They’ve had some great questions and ideas in this process!
Students in seventh and eighth grade have been learning what England was up to during early Spanish colonization of the Americas. The story of Henry VIII is usually a hit, and students enjoy learning how challenging it must have been to live through so many adjustments from the monarchy during this era. Now we begin looking at the colonization of the Americas through the lenses of the French, the Dutch, the Portuguese, and the British.
