Social Studies Update

In sixth grade, students are preparing for an assessment over their river civilizations on Friday. As part of this preparation, we took time to do some practice questions as a whole group to check their understanding. They also have access to a study guide and quizlet, and they’re working to ensure they’re familiar with the various content. We also spent time on Wednesday practicing geography skills, including oceans, continents, cardinal directions, and the locations of the four civilizations we discussed.

In seventh and eighth grade, students are learning about the British colonies in the years preceding the American revolution, including interactions and wars with Native Americans, the Salem Witch trials, and the French and Indian War. Seventh grade is set to have an assessment prior to Thanksgiving break that has them practicing their skills in using evidence to make a strong argument.
