Reading into Research

Students presented their book reports this week and were asked which of the books they learned about would they be most likely to read. They also began looking for their next book report reading. Additionally, students were given time to finish LAD Fair entries and their website for student-led conferences. When we return from the long weekend, we will begin our next unit that will focus more on research and media literacy.

SIXTH AND SEVENTH GRADE: We had a nice, mini-conversation about the importance of punctuation with the following sentence: The man eating chicken ran through the streets which caused a great disturbance (Doe, p. 1)

To engage with your student, you could ask them:

  • what book they want to read for their second book report;
  • what they included in their website; and
  • what LAD Fair categories they have completed their entries for.
