Social Studies Update

Sixth grade students have been exploring the Golden Age of China under the Song and Tang dynasties, as well as the Yamato period in Japan. Yesterday, we learned a creation story for the Maori people of New Zealand, and students made connections to Maui in Moana

The sixth grade geography class will wrap up today with more detail on the continent of Asia. They’ve done good work this semester and built their understanding, laying a foundation for future geography studies in middle school. 

The seventh and eighth grade classes have been discussing post-Civil War changes in the United States, and on Wednesday, we explored a number of sources available in the history classroom. It was so much fun to see students’ curiosity come alive by taking in these newspapers, editorial cartoons, and magazines, as well as significant photographs from the last 160 years.
