Middle School Mathematics

Math Fundamentals – Students completed a knowledge check of solving problems with percentages. Next week they will work on a short project around the use of ratios, rates, and percentages in shopping.  Then we will move on to work focused on operations with fractions and decimals.

Integrated Math – Students have been working with inequalities, reviewing what the inequality symbols represent and how they relate to solutions. Students have written inequalities to represent scenarios and graphed them on number lines. They are looking at solutions to inequalities and what they mean, especially with negative numbers. Next week there will be a check for understanding about this topic.

Algebra I – Algebra 1 students are working on solving systems of equations. After reviewing solving and graphing equations, students began checking to see if coordinate pairs were solutions to equations. They applied this knowledge to systems of equations by graphing each equation and finding their intersection point.

Geometry – Our geometry focus this week was similarity in triangles. Learners connected theorems for congruence to proving similarity. Next week we will zoom in on the special characteristics of right triangles.
