Students in sixth grade are spending this week and our class days next week discussing civics and citizenship. We’re looking at the history of the United States, examining its founding ideas, and learning about the rights and privileges of citizens. Great conversations are coming up as part of this unit, and it’s exciting to see students’ engagement on such an important topic.
Students in seventh and eighth grade have been applying the lessons of the Enlightenment to a variety of revolutions in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. In groups of four, teams are studying the American, French, Haitian, and Latin American revolutions while learning about the specific Enlightenment ideals that helped lead to the success of these revolutions. They begin presentations tomorrow!
Students in culinary arts practiced two very different recipes this week: homemade chicken noodle soup (with homemade egg noodles & a side of warmed sourdough bread) and lollipops. Both recipes challenged us to pay attention to detail!
