Students in sixth grade have been stretching their creative muscles by writing either a journal entry or a letter written from the perspective of someone who traveled along the Silk Roads. In this process, they’re weaving together what they’ve learned of trade and conflict on these key trading routes, as well as bits of historical research to flesh out their understanding of the time. Their stories are full of drama and intrigue, and I’m excited for the group to experience the final products when we do a gallery walk next week!

Seventh and eighth grade students are working in four groups to conduct research on geographic regions that experienced imperialism. They’re first examining each region prior to imperialism, then looking at the region during this influence, and finally examining what each of these places looks like now. They’re going to creatively share out their projects (at least one group is creating a Google Site to showcase their learning) after we return from Home Stretch holiday.
