Middle School Math Update

6th Grade
6th has been busy this week with reviewing all the lessons that they will be bringing with them from 5th grade. Among the topics covered, they were most comfortable with different types of equations and multiplication and long division. Students got caught up on dividing decimals so a small review sheet was provided which was completed while review continued on. Once we are finished reviewing all topics they previously covered in 5th grade, there will be a study guide sent home after in-class completion and our first test will have questions covering our reviewed topics.

7th Grade
Similar to 6th grade, we spent much of the week reviewing information that will be necessary to know in order for success this upcoming school year. Some topics included both PEMDAS and / or GEMS order of operations, comparing part-part and part-whole ratios, percentages, greatest common factors and least common multiples. There was also a small geometry review which encompassed calculating area and perimeter of various shapes. Our first test for this class will be this upcoming Tuesday (9/26)! There are been a lot of lightbulb moments from students when a topic that was previously difficult or forgotten over summer becomes manageable for them.
