This week we are covering some familiar topics from last year while adding another layer on top of their understanding. We have entered our geometry section and are recapping ideas like area and volume while learning about a new concept, surface area. We are chewing through a few in-class worksheets together and will have our very first project next week which will involve bringing in their own container-esque items and measuring them as best as possible! Bonus points will go to the most interesting item.

7th

We have gotten through our first section of intro to algebra, substitution, and now we are graphing multiple points and developing a line through them. This uses substitution at least twice to get two different points on the line.

Algebra 1 

We are covering some integral higher-level math concepts involving exponents and rationalization. Various instances of exponent rules have been covered and we are discovering what to do in order to not have square roots in our denominators.

I wanted to give a special shout out to all of the parents in our SPO organization as they have truly made this week special with their efforts to display their appreciation towards teachers. Your effort has been greatly appreciated from all of the teachers and especially myself as a first year teacher. Thank YOU for all you do behind the scenes and the effort you put in.
