Social Studies Update

Students in sixth grade have continued studying Rome this week, focusing in on their conquests and military ability. Tied to this are the many leadership changes throughout the Empire, and students have done a great job engaging in discussion around strong leadership skills!

Seventh grade students completed their projects and participated in a gallery walk this week. The teams were each tasked with creating an exhibit about immigration from a different country, including China, Italy, Ireland, and Germany. Yesterday, students completed a reflection about this process and their learning outcomes.

Eighth grade students have been discussing the ways the United States added new territories and states after the Revolutionary War. Starting with the Northwest Ordinance, moving through the Louisiana Purchase, and then discussing the many compromises necessary throughout the 19th century, we’re discussing the various fracture points that eventually lead to the Civil War.
