Students Dish Out Culture: Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with Food and Fun

From September 15 to October 15, our Middle School Spanish classes joyfully celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month with a meaningful and delicious project that highlighted culture, history, and culinary arts. 🎉

Students were given the opportunity to choose a project that reflects Hispanic heritage, and many eagerly chose to create their own recipe books featuring 5 to 7 authentic Hispanic dishes. They researched each dish’s country of origin, traditional occasions, and the customs that make these recipes special. 👨‍🍳

The learning didn’t stop there. Students presented their beautifully crafted recipe books to the class, then brought their culinary skills home to prepare the dishes. We were fortunate to sample amazing homemade foods like classic paella, savory tortilla española, empanadas, sweet churros, and rich tres leches cake! 🥘🍰

This project connected language learning with hands-on cultural exploration, deepening students’ appreciation for the diverse traditions of the Hispanic world.

We’re proud of their creativity, hard work, and the wonderful flavors they shared. Here’s to celebrating culture, community, and cuisine — ¡Buen provecho! 🍽️ 🇪🇸
