How Full Is Your Bucket?

Today we discussed the November character education word of the month, caring.  Students talked about what caring means to them, centering on the idea of caring being thinking with your heart.  Then, students shared in a read aloud of How Full Is Your Bucket? by Tom Rath and Mary Reckmeyer. Through the book, students were presented with the idea that each of us has an invisible bucket.  When our bucket is full we feel great, but when it is empty we feel terrible.  As the main character empties and fills his bucket throughout the day, students made the connection that they too have a bucket that is emptied and filled.  Likewise, they recognized that their own actions either empty or fill others buckets as well.  Talk with your child about how many buckets he or she filled today!
