Working with partners, students read all about floods today. The learned the difference between a river flood and a costal flood, determining where each could occur. First graders worked to define key terms including levee, crops, damage, and rescue. Comprehension activities asked students identify the main idea and supporting details as they determined the problems caused by floods such as what they fill, what they damage, and what they wash away.
