First grade students have learned that the Wampanoags didn’t live in tepees, rather, they lived in villages comprised of small round houses called wetus, or wigwams. Wampanoag villages were established around a central square which was used for council meetings and special ceremonies. Students enjoyed constructing their very own wetus, or wigwams, using card stock and paper bags.
