50th Day of School

First grade students celebrated the 50th day of school yesterday with a variety of 50 themed centers.  Students wrote what they thought their lives would be like when they are 50 years old and worked together to complete several lists of 50 words including common nouns, proper nouns, words with blends and digraphs, and words relating to the solar system.  They created 50th day bracelets with 50 items and learned a new game called, Fifty.  Through the game, students practiced mental computation adding and subtracting multiples of five to total fifty.  We finished the day with a 50’s sock hop and root beer floats!
