Welcome Back!

First grade students were eager to return to school today, and it didn’t take long to get into the swing of things.  We were especially excited to enjoy lunch on the patio.  Listed below are new skills introduced today as well as projects and tasks to accomplish this week.

  • Students reviewed the two vowels go a walking rule and selected 15 spelling words fitting the oa spelling pattern.
  • Students began learning about animal classifications.  They partner read Marvelous Mammals and practiced comprehension skills of categorization and factual recall .
  • Students worked to polish and publish writing samples eligible for entry into the LAD Fair writing contest.  Entries will be submitted this Friday.
  • Students will continue learning about the arctic tundra habitat, complete their arctic stories, and finish their arctic animal reports.
