Ranch Day at The Summit

Excitement for Ranch Day at The Summit has been building for some time as students have participated in a variety of activities to prepare for our special visit from author, John Erickson.  In P.E., first graders practiced their galloping skills and played several “Round Up” games. In Spanish, they learned cowboy and ranch related vocabulary.  In class, they partnered with the fifth grade to learn the song “Hank Is Going to School” and have enjoyed listening to The Original Adventures of Hank the Cowdog read aloud.

Today began with our visit from Mr. Erickson who played the banjo, sang a silly song about chickens, and read aloud from his latest book. After the presentation, students enjoyed an agility demonstration by Boggs Dogs, complete with frisbee throwing, races, and many other tricks.  While our time in class was short, we used it to write thank you letters to both Mr. Erickson and Boggs Dogs.  We ended on a high note as students took to the parking lot for a Summit dog parade.
