Learning Continues

First graders at The Summit know that each day brings the opportunity to learn something new.  Although many are counting down the days to summer, we are making the most of our time in first grade as students prepare to become second graders.  Today, was no exception.

This morning, students completed their final weekly spelling assessment, read from their reading folders, completed flight checks on Raz-kids, and began an end of the year math review.  This afternoon, we extended our mapping skills identifying continents, oceans, and rainforests of the world.  We headed down to the courtyard to collect leaf samples (coniferous and deciduous), recorded leaf observations in our journals, and conducted a simple experiment  to better understand photosynthesis and how forests and rainforest give us clean air to breath.  We capped off the day with yearbook or journal signing and free choice.
