Digraph th

This week’s spelling and word work focus introduces students to a third digraph, th.  We will learn th can make two different sounds, a hard or voiced sound as in “that” and a soft or unvoiced sound as in “thumb.”  Spelling and word work activities throughout the week will ask students to sort words based on the location of th, distinguish whether or not th makes a voiced or unvoiced sound, review th sight words, practice the correct pronunciation of th, and find th words in their reading.  As this is a short week, extra practice at home is encouraged.
