Animal Classifications

We have been learning about all kinds of animal classifications in first grade! In the past few weeks, we have learned about mammals, amphibians, reptiles, and insects. Up next: birds and fish!

As part of our study of each classification, we have created class books with examples of each type of animal. The class books now live in our science library and serve as reference about each animal type.

While studying insects last week, we learned that insects have a head, thorax, abdomen, and six legs. Students created their own insects and labeled the head, thorax and abdomen. Then they created a habitat for their insect.
