We had such a great Trimester 1 Celebration on Thursday! Each trimester at The Summit, classes invite their families to join us at school to celebrate their learning from that trimester. On Thursday, we invited first grade families to join us in the art room to see the first graders’ writing and art from a project they created as a reflection of our unit on protecting the environment. With help from our wonderful art teacher, first graders made art based on something they love about Earth. They used recyclables and other trash to create their projects to reduce waste and give new life to the materials. Students also followed the writing process to write about the prompt: “Earth is special because…”. They created a first draft, edited with Ms. Ursino, made changes, added to their writing, and then published a final copy to share with their families. Great work, first graders! Thank you to all who joined us to celebrate the learning these wonderful students have done so far this year!
