1st Graders Embrace Tech with OSMO Coding and Dash Robot

Since the weather is not cooperating, we decided to bring winter indoors.  Winter wonder and technology converged in an exciting learning adventure as 1st graders harnessed the power of OSMO Coding and the Dash robot to bring snowmen to life!

The OSMO Coding system, designed specifically for young learners, offers a tangible and intuitive way to understand coding concepts. The students use physical blocks to create sequences of commands, fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills. As they arrange the blocks, they not only build a code but also construct the foundation for logical thinking—a skill that will serve them well in the years to come.

Enter Dash, the friendly robot eager to turn code into action. The students code Dash to perform a specific task, building a snowman,  including a carrot nose!

This innovative approach to education not only teaches coding but also promotes teamwork and collaboration. The students work together to solve coding challenges, share ideas and celebrate each other’s successes. The sense of accomplishment is palpable as they see the results of their code.

The OSMO Coding and Dash robot experience not only introduces these 1st graders to the basics of coding but also sparks a love for learning that extends beyond the classroom.  In a world where technology is ever-evolving, these 1st graders are taking their first steps towards becoming the digital innovators of tomorrow.
