Dear Parents,
I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to take a moment to share with you the wonderful experience we had in art class this week.
At the end of our session, I decided to treat the students to a special reading. We dove into the enchanting world of “What Do You Do with An Idea?” by Kobi Yamata, beautifully illustrated by Mae Besom. This book holds a special place in our hearts as it’s the newest addition to our Caldecott Medal winner art library.
For those unfamiliar, the Caldecott Medal is a prestigious award that recognizes the best American picture book for children each year. “What Do You Do with An Idea?” captivates with its imaginative illustrations and heartwarming narrative, reminding us of the power and importance of nurturing new ideas.
As I read aloud, the first graders were spellbound. Their eyes sparkled with excitement as they journeyed through the story, falling in love with the vibrant illustrations and connecting with the message on a deeper level.
It was truly heartwarming to witness their enthusiasm and engagement. Through this experience, we not only explored the world of art but also sparked conversations about creativity, imagination, and the boundless possibilities that come with embracing new ideas.
I encourage you to continue these conversations at home, nurturing your child’s creativity and imagination. Together, we can foster a love for art and innovation that will stay with them for a lifetime.
Thank you for your continued support, and I look forward to sharing more inspiring moments with you in the coming weeks.
Warm regards,
Jeannine Dalton
